The Man Behind BAC

Kai Baldwin.
A Veteran Who Gets It.

"I started BAC because veterans deserve an advocate who is truly on their side. Everything we do is built on our values: integrity, transparency, and care."

Kai Baldwin is a veteran. He was medically separated from the ADF and went through the entire DVA process himself. The claims, the paperwork, the frustration, the delays. He knows exactly how it all goes because he's lived it.

That firsthand experience is what drives everything BAC does. Over the years, Kai has helped thousands of veterans navigate the DVA system. BAC was built to be a one-stop shop for everything DVA. From initial liability claims through to permanent impairment, appeals, ComSuper, and for those who are eligible, Retrospective Medical Discharge, a complex and often misunderstood pathway that can be life-changing for veterans who were discharged without proper medical recognition.

Kai is honest, sometimes to a fault, and always transparent. You'll never get a runaround or be left wondering where things are at. What you see is what you get.

Baldwin Advocacy & Claims was founded on our values of integrity, transparency, and care. Your entitlements belong to you.

BAC operates on a fixed-fee model. Transparent, fair, and aligned with where the industry needs to go. Kai publicly backed the Senate Inquiry into veteran advocacy fees. It reported in November 2025 and called for action on commission-based fees, which the Government has agreed to consider. Fixed fee is where the industry is heading.

This isn't just a business to Kai. It's personal.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions.

What does "fixed fee" actually mean?

+
It means you know the full cost of our service upfront, before we begin any work. Unlike percentage-based advocates who take a cut of your backdated payment (often thousands of dollars), BAC charges a set fee. 100% of your DVA entitlement goes to you.

Is the initial consultation really free?

+
Yes, completely free, no-obligation, and 100% confidential. We'll have a conversation about your situation, your service history, and what you may be entitled to. There's no pressure to proceed.

What types of DVA claims do you help with?

+
We support veterans with Initial Liability claims, Permanent Impairment claims, PI Reassessments, Appeals & Reviews, Retrospective Medical Discharge applications, Medical Separation assistance, and ComSuper / Military Superannuation claims. If you're not sure what applies to you, that's exactly what the free consult is for.

Do I need to be discharged to make a claim?

+
No. Both currently serving ADF members and discharged veterans can make DVA claims. Your eligibility depends on your service history and conditions, not whether you're still serving.

How is BAC different from other DVA advocates?

+
Most advocates charge a percentage of your backdated payment, meaning the more you're owed, the more they take. BAC uses a fixed-fee model so there's no conflict of interest. We're also veteran owned and led, and we backed the Senate Inquiry into veteran advocacy fees. It reported in November 2025, and the Government has agreed to look at capping fees. Fixed fee is where the industry is heading.

Can you help if my claim has already been declined?

+
Yes. A declined claim is not always the final answer. We can review your case, identify where things may have gone wrong, and help you through the appeals and review process with additional supporting evidence.

Do you work with veterans across all of Australia?

+
Yes. BAC supports veterans Australia-wide. We work remotely with veterans across every state and territory, so no matter where you're based, we can help.
